SONY LEGACY PREPARES TO RELEASE A SPECIAL 10" DICTATORS EP FOR RECORD STORE DAY.

From Scott Kempner's facebook page: "This coming Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) is also a Record Store Day (perhaps you already know that, and i am just a little late to the party) Sony Legacy is releasing a 10" EP of five songs from THE DICTATORS GO GIRL CRAZY, and one unreleased song from those sessions, the album that started it all, and is responsible for the esteemed position i hold today! As an extra added bonus, it will feature a few remixes by Andrew WK, (they're pretty rockin' actually, and) a cool variation on the classic (did i just say that??!!) LP mixes we all know and love.

I gotta say i am a bit overwhelmed that Sony is doing this. It is a bit of an honor, after all. The new mixes are NOT replacing anything, as shortly thereafter, Sony Legacy is releasing a double cd in honor of the 40th anniversary of the original release (original mixes intact), with one disc being the original record, with a second disc of a few of these Andrew WK remixes, and some outtakes, unreleased songs, and some stuff of whose existence has been completely unknown to me - until now. It really is well done, with passion, skin in the game, and fun, I think. Andy has written some ace liner notes to accompany the cd, too.

The whole package underscores our basic mindset at the time. We were truly just expressing ourselves, our idea of rock'n'roll, and believe it or not, the record is a pretty accurate representation of who, what, and where we were as a bunch of NYC wise-ass, know-it-alls, who thought rock'n'roll needed a big kick in the ass at the time, and we were quite sure we were just the ones to deliver it. I will be hawking this from time to time (no, i am not above this sort of thing), so please bear with me!"
