With a resume including some of the most influential and hardest-hitting bands of all-time - the Dictators and Manowar - guitarist Ross the Boss’ stature in the history of hard rock and heavy metal has been well-solidified for decades by this point.
And he continues to rock - as the leader of his own solo outfit, and such stellar releases as ‘Hailstorm’ and ‘New Metal Leader’ (as well as having just completed a major European tour, and has an all-new solo release coming soon, via AFM Records).

For the band’s upcoming three New Jersey/New York area shows (July 28 in Clifton, NJ, July 29 in Queens, NY, and July 30 in Long Branch, NJ) and an appearance at the massive Wacken Open Air Festival (August 3 in Germany), drummer Kenny “Rhino” Earl will be stepping aside, and will be replaced by Ross’ nephew, Lance Barnewold.

“We - the Ross the Boss Band - are sad that Brother Rhino cannot be with us, and we wish him all the best,” says Ross. “Now we have my amazing nephew, Lance Barnewold, to pound the drums into oblivion!”

Ross the Boss was one of the pioneers of both punk rock and heavy metal. He's proud to know that the music he's made has influenced and inspired so many other artists. You can be sure that whatever band he's in or whatever style he's playing in, he's always happy to be writing new music and playing the guitar with his friends.

And soon, fans will be able experience Ross’ immense guitar legacy on a concert stage!

Ex-MANOWAR Guitarist ROSS THE BOSS To Be Inducted Into 'Hall Of Heavy Metal History'

Article reposted from Blabbermouth.

Wacken Open Air, one of the world's largest heavy metal music festivals, and the Hall Of Heavy Metal History, have joined forces to induct legendary guitarist Ross "The Boss" Friedman into the Hall Of Heavy Metal History. A special ceremony inducting Friedman as "Global Metal Ambassador," will take place onstage at Wacken Open Air festival on August 3 in front of 75,000 metal fans in Wacken, Germany. Joining Ross on stage for the induction ceremony will be various Wacken Open Air officials, AFM Records representatives, and executives from the Hall Of Heavy Metal History.

"It is a great honor to join with Wacken Open Air to induct Ross 'The Boss' Friedman, with the 'Global Metal Ambassador Award,' says Hall Of Heavy Metal History founder/CEO Pat Gesualdo."If anyone deserves this award, it's Ross. He's been working extremely hard for decades to ensure that metal continues to thrive."

"We are very happy to be part of this very special ceremony and looking forward to having Ross The Boss on our stage for the very first time inWacken," says one of the Wacken Open Air promoters, Thomas Jensen.

The Hall Of Heavy Metal History is part of the non-profit organization D.A.D. (Drums And Disabilities). Proceeds from both organizations are donated to establish free therapy services and programs to help disabled children and their families. Every January, iconic musicians and music industry personalities are inducted into the Hall Of Heavy Metal History in Anaheim, California.

The new lineup of ROSS THE BOSS, the band led by former Friedman, performed at this year's Hall Of Heavy Metal History induction ceremony in January at the Anaheim Expo Center in Anaheim, California.

Joining Friedman in the group's incarnation are SYMPHONY X bassist Mike LePond, former MANOWAR drummer Kenny "Rhino" Earl and LET US PREY vocalist Marc Lopes.

One of the great metal guitarists, Friedman first made his name with THE DICTATORS, before briefly teaming up with French band SHAKIN' STREET. But in more recent times, he became renowned for his work with MANOWAR. A founding member, Ross recorded six albums with the band, before leaving after 1988's "Kings Of Metal". Since then he's worked with MANITOBA'S WILD KINGDOMBRAIN SURGEONS and THE SPINATRAS. Now he's back doing what he does best — playing loud, true heavy metal with DEATH DEALER and ROSS THE BOSS.

Old school classic heavy metal power trio, The Rods, were joined onstage by legendary Manowar co-founding guitarist Ross The Boss during their June 18th headline show at St. Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, New York.

The Rods drummer Carl Canedy checked with the following comment: "The first time Ross and I played together in Manowar, it was like we'd been playing together for years. It was the same feeling being on stage again with him at St Vitus Bar. Ross jumped in as if he'd been a member of The Rods from day one. The crowd went nuts... they love him! I can never say enough about how honest, kind and amazingly talented Ross The Boss is. The guy is a legend!"

Says Ross The Boss: “When Carl asked me to sit in with The Rods at St Vitus Bar it took me a nanosecond to say yes. The Rods are a great band and Carl is my longtime friend & original Manowar drummer. Needless to say it was a great night!”
